Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) – Promarine Innovations

Promarine Innovations provides comprehensive ship towing solutions (both in-port and offshore), technological applications for fleet monitoring (Fleet Management), consulting services regarding low-emission fuels (e.g., LNG, methanol), as well as complete projects for hydrodynamic design and fuel consumption optimization.

Our main tug base is in Piraeus; however, we provide towing and technical support services in all Greek ports (Alexandroupoli, Volos, Heraklion, Thessaloniki, etc.) and in broader maritime zones around the Mediterranean.

To request a quote, fill in the contact form on the website or call us at +30 210 4095042. We will need details such as:

  • Type and dimensions of the vessel (LOA, beam, draft)
  • Destination inside/outside the port (loading/unloading point)
  • Scheduled towing date and time
  • Special conditions (e.g., air draft restrictions, maneuvering in narrow channels)

Within a few hours, you will receive a detailed offer with pricing per hour or per voyage.

The final cost is determined by:

  1. The tug category (power (bhp), propulsion type, fuel economy)

  2. Time of engagement (working hours) and voyage distance

  3. Time/date (night hours/holidays incur surcharges)

  4. Any additional services (e.g., towing through narrow channels, use of mooring lines)

  5. Use of special low-emission fuels (LNG, biofuels, etc.), if requested

All our tugs comply with international SOLAS and MARPOL standards, and their crews hold STCW (Standards of Training, Certification & Watchkeeping) certifications. Furthermore:

  • Our tugs are equipped with modern navigation systems (ECDIS, ARPA, latest-generation RADAR).
  • Each towing operation is accompanied by a detailed Risk Assessment & Method Statement (RAMS).
  • There is continuous VHF communication with the captain and port authorities.

We use integrated IoT & Big Data Analytics platforms that enable:

  • Real-time tracking using satellite data (AIS, GPS)
  • Emission (CO₂, NOₓ, SOₓ) and fuel consumption calculation per voyage
  • Predictive maintenance via sensors (vibration, temperature, pressure) on main engines and engine rooms
  • Reports for speed optimization (eco-speed), optimal hull lubrication system usage (air lubrication), and exhaust gas cleaning systems (scrubbers)

Yes. Our company partners with certified suppliers of LNG, bio-LNG, and biomethanol for the installation of smart dual-fuel systems. We provide:

  • Design and consulting for converting old engines to dual-fuel
  • Studies for LNG bunker supply chain (strategic bunkering station planning)
  • Installation of exhaust gas cleaning equipment (scrubbers) for compliance with IMO 2020 and upcoming limits

Yes. We offer 24/7 emergency towing services for urgent situations (e.g., mechanical failure, grounding in shallow waters). You can contact us at 210 1234567 (24-hour line), where a tug dispatch will be activated immediately (average response time: up to 2 hours within Attica). In cases of special conditions (traffic barriers, bad weather), arrival may take a few hours longer.

Promarine Innovations has embedded sustainability at every stage:

  • Low-emission fuels: We promote the use of LNG, methanol, and bio-LNG for our fleet and scrubber systems.
  • Hydrodynamic design: We collaborate with shipyards and research centers to create hulls with reduced drag, air lubrication systems, and lightweight materials (composite hulls).
  • Digital monitoring: With real-time monitoring systems for emissions and consumption, we achieve more efficient fuel management (eco-speed, slow steaming).
  • Green partnerships: We participate in European programs like Poseidon Med II and Horizon Europe for pioneering clean fuel technologies and marine environmental protection.

(Service available soon)

Promarine Innovations offers a Real-Time Tracking service via web portal or mobile app:

  • After the towing agreement is signed, you receive a username/password for access to the FleetManager platform.
  • In the application, you can view the position (AIS/GPS), speed, course, estimated time of arrival (ETA), and key engine parameters (rpm, consumption).
  • You can enable push or email notifications for changes in destination, speed limit breaches, or emergency events (e.g., grounding).

The service is available 24/7 and is adaptable for both small vessels and large commercial cargo ships.
